Parthenogenesis. That is the scientific term for virgin birth. One cool thing about parthenogenesis is that, historically, there has only been one case. And not only was there a father, He was a pretty big deal.

But none since. And that is weird, because human biology is mysterious still, and there’s no concrete reason why an egg can’t somehow pick up some local DNA. But again, you never hear of it. You hear people claim it, usually as a way to explain unearned pregnancies. It never works, but there may be one.

Kelsi Mickelson was seventeen when she became pregnant, and because of a quirk condition below decks, she was unable to even have sex. Physically. Couldn’t physically have sex. And I’m not explaining it any more than that, though I could. I’m confident that no one wants me to. But she couldn’t even have sex. Now of course, there is one caveat: her boyfriend. They do fool around, but she really can’t have sex. I feel like I have to think of this like I’m recreating an accident scene. Figuring out angles and wind resistance, like “how did he get one past the goalie?”

She tried to tell people about it, can you imagine that? And she did lose a lot of friends. But so here’s the thing. The Bible says Jesus was a virgin birth, but it doesn’t outlaw the phenomena, nor does it say that Jesus’s birth was the only way a virgin birth can happen. So are people bugging out about just some freak mutation?

One thing about virgin births that’s got me thinking… what is that kid going to be like? I mean, you’ve seen brother and sister kids, what about sister and sister kids. Cause it’s either crazy or it’s just a clone.

Or it’s the Second Coming.
