NEW MUSIC ALERT!!! Fat Wreck Chords Recording Artist JOEY CAPE Releases A GOOD YEAR TO FORGET
Written by Staff on August 13, 2021
The Lagwagon frontman Joey Cape has just released a new solo album entitled A GOOD YEAR TO FORGET via Fat Wreck Chords. Is it Ironic or was it a perfectly orchestrated to release the album today on FRIDAY the 13th?
2020 was a tough year for all of us but for Joey Cape he had it rougher than many of us. During this 12 months he contracted Covid, became separated from his wife of 20 years and even had to move back in with his parents. To make matters worse Joey also lost his father. Finding the positivity in the negative is a focus of this album and the fact that these songs were written with that in mind is a positive result in itself.
It’s a 12 song album that Joey doesn’t just play guitar and sing on but in fact he plays the majority of the instruments including electric and lap steel guitars, piano, mandolin and drums. This truly is an album to pick up!
“I just decided that if I was going to make a record like this, I should make it in full isolation. I have a Murphy bed, so every morning I’d push up the bed, pull out the studio stuff, have some coffee or tea, get out my little chair and off I went. This record has truly distilled my own experience of the past year, what I’ve learned and what I’ve felt. It feels right and I’m very proud of the result.” -Joey Cape
Below is is the new video “It Could Be Real” which is the first release from the new album.
