Week Five: Jesse Sample’s Freak of the Week “I Don’t know”

This is Jesse Sample. We exist in a world of unknowns. We are truly responsible to fill in the blanks. We have no way of truly knowing what it’s like to be someone else, or even if they exist. There exist things that only some people have access to and then there are things that nobody has access to. How do we get right with that?

Well, what do we know? Or better yet, what can we try and approximate? We know ourselves to some degree. We can choose kindness and try to be more empathetic. It may not come across in the way we mean it to some people, at first. But we can try. We can develop a sense for if we are being courageous and build it. That’s something.

Perhaps we get a good deal of liberty in filling in the blanks. We can assume decency and good will and balance it with the wisdom that some folks don’t subscribe to those things. We can hypothesize what goes on behind universal curtains, but we don’t have to be slaves to our guesses.
