Christopher Ebbs – An Xperience Interview – by Liam Sweeny.

RRX: Tell me a little bit about Silver Factory books and records. When did it open, and more importantly, why did it open?

CE: The Silver Factory opened July, 3 years ago. if you ask The owner of the factory Dan he’ll tell you that, “The Silver Factory was just an over extensive collection of Books, Records, Media and not enough reason to reason to leave the house”
-if you ask me Im lead to believe every town has a diamond hidden in an artistic form, meant to be stubbled upon by the like minded; formed within the creativity and culture of the community.

RRX: Booking shows can be a challenge. Finding bands is really only the first step, and on occasion, that’s the easy part. What do you have to be aware of when you’re planning a show? What about planning a season of shows.

CE: I think Most important thing to remember when booking shows or doing really anything at all is to remember everything is a work in progress. Being mindful with any show, event, any get together is a teamwork driven with single goal intent.
sure, you can have the stage, you can have the bands. do you have the audience? have you advertised enough? Theres always plenty of small factors the seem like challenges along the way. through out the years in the industry of music I can certainly tell you planning and advertisement is very key to bringing in a crowd. with this being heavily pushed as lawn shows for getting music out into the community I like to tell everyone that hey! we got this thing going on. these days, support local. season of shows. like you said, Booking Bans can be easy, absolutely completely follow but its truly about making it known to the unknowing.

-Dan the Owner, “you do the thing. Then you do the thing again with the knowledge you got last time. hopefully do it better the next time.” he goes on explaining.

RRX: When you’re trying to book bands, what do you look for? Musically, what do you think are good combinations? How do you introduce people to what’s out there while giving them what they came for?

CE: What the best thing about all music out there. sure you got relevancy, genre based. But when you can read the energy that someone gives off you ask them what type of music their into, we have a vast variety of bands lined up that their is certainly something for everyone. Once you have a line up to chose from, connect the gap. Inquire with the music groups if they have preferences on who’d they like to play with. themes can always play big roles in connecting the music to the fans, bands as and of course the audience.

RRX: Silver Factory is becoming a cultural destination in the Ballston Spa and beyond. Beyond, in this case, includes Saratoga. Ballston Spa is almost a midpoint between Troy and Saratoga, two hot spots in the music scene. How do you get people to come there who like to go to those cities?

CE:  In terms of getting people to show up That’s the easiest part. Silver Factories Location, ample parking availability mixed with an atmospheric welcome grants the audience creativeness versus the status quo.

RRX: You have a summer series coming up. Can you tell us a little bit about it?

CE: The Summer of Fun was an idea to extent the offer to the community to have multiple shows; Being Publicized based performances as well as interviews for up coming projects, photoshoots, movie nights, open mike nights but also up and coming artist market projects nearing the fall.

This summer we will be promoting up and coming artists and connecting the bands for the artist to perform and share their craft, the coolest part about this series is the massive amount of different projects stemming from local to larger artists rolling through the Silver factory promises to be the most visited spot of the summer. Between artists, advertisements and the creative blend of wanting to share the love of music directly with the fans.

RRX: Another thing happening on September 13th and 14th: Lawnstock. This is the second one, so what do you want to repeat in the second one, and what do you want to do differently?

CE: Lawnstock II is going to a big collaboration recap of the bands that played throughout the season and adding a few special requested bands to make an appearance. Collectively, this years lawn stock will have local artists, vendors as well a bigger scaled division of performers. the cool thing that makes Lawnstock II coming up is, with every performance we keep adding new features, or new editions. So by the time we get there everything we have hyped up will already have some cool new things from artists weve met along the way.

Lastly, when it comes down to it What sets Silver Factory aside from all the others.
come down, you’ll just have to experience it first hand.
