Week Forty-Four: Jesse Sample’s Freak of the Week “Out of October”

By on October 29, 2025

Jesse Sample’s Freak of the Week airs EVERY WEDNESDAY at 6pm Eastern ONLY on RadioRadioX.com

This is Jesse Sample. October is never long enough. Every year, I feel like I didn’t spend these precious days as well as I could have. I could have spent more time cruising through the mountains or drinking beer along the river. Those hours that I squandered scrolling on Instagram could have been spent cackling among friends in Autumn’s absolute majesty. I could have played more guitar outside and gone apple picking with my wife a few more times.

When this month is over, we start in on the holiday rush. And then soon it’s the new year and we, up here in the northeast, go into deep winter, cold and often quiet. There’s a lot of beauty to behold in these times but it’s never as golden as the suspending spell of October in the Hudson Valley.

For much of my life, this time of year is when you meet someone special and new and even as the sun is going down at 5:58 l, your spirit is still warm as you drive to meet them at a happy hour somewhere. I have a landscaping business and I could argue that I spend more time outside than the average bear. It’s still not enough.

Today is Wednesday and Friday is Halloween. I want to make a pledge to myself and to any of you listening. I, Jesse Sample, pledge to savor every last second of these last few October days to the best of my ability. I won’t worry about money, or the future, or any petty trash. I will breath in the crisp air and allow my heart to be shattered into a million little pieces every time I am confronted with the power and the beauty of the natural world.

Thanks to all of you tuned into RadioRadioX. This is the Freak of the Week, “Out of October.”
