Cohoes Music Hall, Friday March 18th
Entertainment One presented Beatin’ the Odds and Monsters of Rock.
In what might seem as an odd combination, John Myers of Entertainment One, brought together one of the best Southern Rock bands in the Area, Beatin’ The Odds with a power ‘80s band Monsters of Rock…and to Cohoes Music Hall it worked!
Beatin’ the Odds opened, with the best of Southern Rock to include classic songs from Molly Hatchet and a strong showing of Lynyrd Skynyrd. Dan Fortin, lead vocal for Beatin’ the Odds, has a perfect range for this style music, with a gritty growl that can still handle the softer tones. Their final song of Freebird (No, people did NOT have to request it…they sang it freely!) The crowd ignited into a rousing sing along, filling the corners of the music hall with good southern rock feelings.
After a short intermission and stage reset, the Monsters of Rock took the stage, looking as you stepped back in time almost 40 years (Sorry folks) to a concert with your buddies.
Wailing songs such as Def Leppard, Twisted Sister, Motley Crue, Poison, Dokken and of course KISS!
The place rocked.
