The Chance in Poughkeepsie is Has Been Purchased/What Does the Future Hold?

Written by on September 14, 2023

The Chance in Poughkeepsie has been a staple in the live music scene for decades. The theater itself opened in 1912 and was originally called Carroll Players Playhouse. The name has changes several times over the years but in my lifetime I (Rob Smittix) have always known The Chance to be a legendary concert venue with amazing notable performers.

The Chance also had a secondary venue built into it called The Loft and my band Smittix had the opportunity to play there with The Toasters years back. I’m just reminiscing on the memories that I’ve created there over the years. My last visit to The Chance was last May to see JOHN 5, the legendary guitarist that is notoriously known for getting into a fight with Marilyn Manson.

As far as anyone knows, right now it has not become public knowledge on who the new owner is or what the plans for the venue will be. I’m sure we’ll learn more soon.

There are still some shows scheduled at The Chance until the end of October. So if you want one last chance to attend a show at the venue that has brought us so many great memories over the years check out the remaining schedule HERE!

What memories have you and your friends created at The Chance?
