On Saturday April 25th of the year 2026 my Mohegan friend and I set route for the coolest small town in America, New Paltz, New York. But before we started our excursion we got ourselves some donuts that quacked. Mine was bacon in sun and his blueberry lemonade, fortunately some moist towelettes came to our aid after that delicious mess. As we ventured forward we saw what resembled kangaroo roadkill, which still has yet to be identified. I was very politely offered Stetson Black which quickly became pepper spray into the eyes of the already bloodshot. I was later offered again but the ensuing PTSD forbade me to cross the bridge again. Eventually, we would arrive to New Paltz and walked the town a bit discovering extraterrestrials in every corner.
Finally, we arrive at the Lemon Squeeze venue, not to be confused with the labyrinth rock scramble Lemon Squeeze up Mohonk Mountain but certainly the inspiration for the name. Khary himself met us at the door and we made our way in. We got to hear some of the soundcheck and mingled with the talent for a bit before the show began.
Maxx Wright based out of Oneonta opened up the show and had Treat another Upstate New York rapper joined him on stage for a joint as well. These guys are definitely worth checking out. Here are their Instagram handles: @maxxwrightofficial @ttreat_tt
The old jazzy club turned indy venue began filling up as Khary began his set. Khary started the evening with some older tracks that he, himself admitted he doesn’t enjoy performing as much as his new material but the audience was appreciative. At no point in time did I think that I ingested too many drugs but I did sing along loudly to “Deep Conversations,” “I think I feel the drugs
I think I took too much!” Khary closed out the Big Mania Tour show with his underground hit “BIG MAN!” and yes the crowd and myself took the big man pose with our arms out to the side and fists hanging. The song hit so nice, we did it twice! I loved every moment of it but I couldn’t help but think “this is weird!” Khary’s tour continues so click the link HERE to see if he’s coming to a city near YOU!
Lastly, I need to apologize to my Mohegan friend, I “accidentally” ganked your ‘Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas’ lighter.
